Currently Refining Global Commercial Director at Johnson Matthey, Ruth Leland is responsible globally for Refining within the Platinum Group Metals and Services part of the business. A core element of the role involves understanding the full metal flow from product supply to product recycling, and with a greater drive towards sustainability, the value proposition is becoming more about the full circularity package than any single part of the offer. She also has responsibility for the European Customer Services Teams across both the Refining and Products businesses.
Prior to joining Johnson Matthey five years ago, Ruth held the role of Refrigerants Business Manager at BOC, where she worked for 13 years holding a range of strategic roles in sales and customer management. An advocate for gender diversity in the precious metals industry, Ruth has been a member of the Women in PGM Network since its inception in 2019.
Outside of work, Ruth is a keen polo player and loves nothing more than spending time with friends, family and her three dogs.

Emma will focus on developing networking opportunities, development, and outreach programmes for women across the PGM value chain in the Middle East and Southern Africa.

She is a commercialisation professional with over 12 years’ experience in precious metals sales and marketing and 17 preceding years’ experience in business management, classical marketing, product development, market intelligence development and distribution. She served on various boards including chairman of The Platinum Incubator, director of The World Platinum Investment Council and The Platinum Jewellery Development Association and non-executive director of Furuya Metals in Japan.
She joined Metals Focus as Director of PGM Research in April 2020. In her leisure time she likes to play golf, run, cycle, and spend time with her indulging and patient husband.
